One of the best early car racing games - take part in the illegal race across United States.
Inspired by Cannonball Run and later Gumball Rally following The Great American Cross-Country Road Race puts in behind the wheel of a car taking part in such coast-to-coast race on public roads in United States. We can choose one of the routes: Los Angeles to New York City, San Francisco to Washington, Seattle to Miami or race in which you have to visit every single city on the map. The route is split by checkpoints set in big cities, where you can learn how well you are doing comparing to your competitors. The view during the game is from beyond the car and the game is not that impressive when it comes to graphics or sounds (although the engine sound was rather good), but despite being a simple arcade game it had elements of planning - although the shortest route was the most obvious solution you could choose different ways to complete the race. Every hundred miles there were gas stations, which was important since we the fuel tank in your car will dry out pretty fast. You don’t want to miss them, because if you will run out of the gas you will have to actually push the car to the next one. Also you have to look out for the police (and if they show up reduce speed to 40 mph or pass them with maximum speed, which is 240 mph). During the day and close to coasts you can stumble upon more traffic, during the night or in the Midwest farming states there should be fewer cars and moving faster. Some of the roads are closed (you can drive on them, but while avoiding barriers), some of them are icy, some of them wet - it is worth to take under consideration what would be better for you while you are choosing the next part of the route.
While on surface it is just a simple arcade game The Great American Cross-Country Road Race, just like Blue Max, it is superbly developed game that still after long years could be fun for a while.

1990
Long, long time ago, in a country far, far away, called Great Britain, there was a car that actually looked quite good. And that car had a dedicated game that was actually quite good.

1988
Classic strategy game with action elements - on surface a very simple looking game, but once you take a look at the details it is a great piece of software from 1988.

1982
Platform game that had an extra topical flavour - as an adventurer you jump and run through the jungle environment and face the dangers the jungle has to offer.

1982
Classic arcade game, in which we drive a getaway car through city and collect stash while 3 police cars are out to get us.
