The Pharaoh’s Curse

Platform game, try to grab the treasures before the mummy will get ancient on your ass.
The Pharaoh’s Curse was not a huge game, the layout was only 16 chambers of a pyramid, the number of obstacles was not that large, yet somehow the game was very addictive. The goal is to collect 16 different treasures, which is tricky when there are timed traps that could eat you alive, there are mechanisms that are guarding the treasures, but also there is a mummy.
I know, a mummy in a game about Egypt, crazy, right? But yes, you will stumble upon a mummy, or rather two of them. You are able to shoot them, but they will do whatever they can to make things even tougher for you. Oh yeah, and there is also the flying creature you need to stay away from. No, it won’t kill you, but it might pick you up and drop you in a completely different chamber. And there is one more thing that will increase your blood pressure - once you collect all of the treasures, you still have to escape alive from the pyramid, which is a nice touch.
The Pharaoh’s Curse was not a masterpiece, it did not spawned into a series of games, but one thing the creators got right was the playability. The game was easy to get into, it was fun to play and even though quite simple, it is still fondly remembered by people who played it back in the 1980s.
