British Manager
1996 computer games Amiga games

Simple and a bit old-fashioned football manager gamer - published in 1996, but with the level of simulation comparable with games from 1986.
British Manager took its title from the fact that divisions simulated in the game are mixture of clubs from England and Scotland (and also one Welsh team), so in a way it is fantasy division, in which we manage one of the clubs available. Of course the main scenario is very typical - you start in the lowest division with poor quality players, but through training, transfers and a lot of luck you can reach the top.
Even though the game was published in 1996 the level of simulation was... let’s just say "classic" - the player parameters limited to just one value (main skills between 1 and 10), no player contracts, no statistics, no further data about the players. At the same time the matches, although containing not bad animations of the goal attempts, represent the same value that you can find in much older games - you know only the scorers of the goals, not even who were the players that had chance, but did not scored.
Overall a very simple game, using a lot of elements from older games and not really offering much innovations. But it was low budget production and was given more or less for free (as licenceware), so it is hard to expect much more from non-commercial title.
