submarine simulatorssimulator games
One of the less known submarine simulators - the story behind it is surprisingly complex, but in general we are put in charge of the nuclear submarine and... we have to face Aliens.
Can you imagine that Alien have invaded Earth and now they are planning to steal our resources while keeping the human kind as slaves? Well, yeah, the story was told many times in many different version actually. But can you imagine that the last hope of human kind would have the shape of a nuclear submarine? Me neither, but Jason Bauer, author of SeaLance, came up with such background story for his game. Alien have obviously sunk the whole US Navy and took over the Soviet navy to rule the waves. We, aboard SeaLance nuclear submarine, have to face them on the oceans and our target is to destroy 20 Alien installations around the world.
The weapon we will be using are Trident nuclear missiles armed with modified warheads that will not only destroy enemy installations, but also will spread the virus that will kill Aliens or at least will force them to give up the invasion of the Earth. Doesn’t sound complicated, but in fact it rather is - apart from the Tridents (that are capable of attacking only the cities) we have only 20 conventional missiles aboard that we can use to attack enemy ships and submarines. This means that many times we will have to decide if it is worth it to sunk another enemy ship or just stealthy move pass them unnoticed.
Old shareware game that is not fully a simulator, but even with simple graphics and limited options available it is still fun to play (of course "fun" means something completely different to simulator fans like me) - it has nice atmosphere and could be entertaining for hours.
the game was original and had some atmosphere, which is more than can be said about a lot of modern titles

And I would say you have done a great job

What can I say I wrote the game in high school while learning how to program on the Amiga. This was in the days before the internet, and everything had to be learned from books, and making it up as you went. Thanks to all that enjoyed the game over the years.

1990
A bit of a strategy, a bit of simulation and a bit of a tactical shooter. Confused yet? Good.

1987
One of the early simulations based on the 1964 war movie The Train - during World War 2 French resistance takes control over a train and drives it towards Normandy, where Allied forces have landed.

1985
Classic submarine simulator that set the standards for the genre that more or less are still in use in modern titles.

1992
One of the first racing games that was using real physics rules to simulate the car behaviour and was using early 3D graphics to give us the feeling of being in the middle of the action.
