Classic murder-mystery game with surprisingly elaborate interface to help you with your investigation in the Ghastly Manor.
Classic computer game published in 1990 by British company U.S. Gold, presenting a classic setting for a murder-mystery story: in Ghastly Manor, household of a wealthy family, a... well, ghastly murder took place. Player as a master-sleuth, Lord Damien Baxter, steps in to find the murderer. All the family members, all the guests that were in the manor and all the servants are suspects, and you have access to the whole building with only one task - solve the mystery. On your way around you will stumble upon all kinds of murder weapons (from guns, through a set of knives or a rope), you can interrogate the suspects, you can gather evidence, clues and, at the end, provide the solution.
The graphics may not be great, but the very extensive interface for interrogation was quite unique in this production - you could ask people questions about themselves, about others, about places and combine those elements (f.e. ask about footman in reference to the kitchen or butler and lord). While it was a surprisingly complicated tool, the sheer number of combinations was often leading to frustrating results, when 99% of the answers you could get were in the line of "I know nothing about it" or "I told you all I know about it".
Nevertheless, it is a game that still can be fun for the murder-mystery stories aficionados and set new standards in the genre.
