flight simulatorssimulator games
First ever flight simulator that concentrated on the Soviet airplane, the workhorse of Soviet Army, MiG-29 Fulcrum. The creators decided to take up a bit of revolution with mouse as the main controller.
On surface MiG-29 Fulcrum seemed like a bold project - just months after the end of Cold War Domark have published flight simulator that concentrated on the multi-role Soviet fighter and we were given a chance to take control of such plane in series of missions. But one look on the main menu put those hopes aside - there were only few missions available ann when you take a hard look at them they are almost identical, but take place in different parts of the Soviet Union.
Armed with air-to-surface missiles AS-7 Kerry we take up missions to destroy ground targets (from SAM sites to submarines) and for our protection we have air-to-air missiles AA-8 Aphid so we can face the enemy fighters. As last resort we have the cannon (useless to be honest) and unguided missiles S-240, but in most of the cases we don’t really need them at all since the target tracking system is so sophisticated that we can lock on target from very far and it does not require anything from us once we are in range.
The game was original, it had unusual steering system with mouse as main controller, it had a good feeling, but when you take a good hard look at details it was over-simplified and did not have much to offer. Even some basics were unavailable, like low altitude alert or missile range indicator, which gave the feeling of rough diamond about the whole project.
it was a weird game, but weird in a good way
