Grand Prix 3
Third instalment of Grand Prix series of Formula One simulators, this time with improved graphics and updated driver data.
Grand Prix from Microprose was the first real Formula One simulator back in 1991, then there was Grand Prix 2 in 1996, which was again amazing, and in 2000 they came up wit Grand Prix 3. In a way it was an extension of the previous titles, with improved graphics and more up-to-date info about teams and drivers. As for the background of the races, not much was changed and a single season was the basic game mode.
Compared to Grand Prix 2, this title looked definitely better (full 3D, instead of early version of 3D engine), the surroundings were given a rework, so you could be more immersed in the race. The driver data were from 1998 season of Formula One (later updated to 2000 season data), two new tracks that were recently introduced were also added. On the other hand, the game was a bit harder to master, sometimes the angles for point of view made it hard to get used to.
Another big change was the more realistic physics of cars getting damaged during the accidents, which was a nice touch. Overall it was a technically better game, although in some parts it seemed a bit soulless.
