You can say a lot about games that are based on movies, but the sad reality is that most of them are just rubbish. And Beverly Hills Cop is sadly not an exception - some of the scenes from the movie were turn into sections of the gameplay, each highlighting a slightly different type of a challenge. And that is about it, really.
The beginning is simple, you enter a warehouse, where baddies will shoot you, so you have to do a bit of shooting and a bit of platforming. Then you jump into your Mercedes and chase after the trucks full of drugs. The third segment is a simple shooter with a top-down view. And the last part of the game is a sort-of 3D shooter. And then you are done.
Like many other games before, and even more since, Beverly Hills Cop was a low effort licensed production that was supposed to be part of the marketing surrounding the movie. The graphics side is not the worst you will find, the animations are smooth, but overall the game lacks any sort of depth or a hook that would drag you in. It is what it says on the tin, a piece of marketing that tries to emulate bits of the movie, so it might be a novelty for the fans of the movie, but does not have much to offer to gamers not interested in the original films.
