Early soccer management games were very simple - players were described by just few parameters, there were no tactics, no training plans, no fancy match reports. But in early 1990s things have changed and, together with Bundesliga Manager Pro (aka The Manager) and Player Manager animated matched became a standard. Of course it took a lot of skill and effort to make them look good, but there was another segment of that market - people who did not put any effort.
League Challenge was one of many games of the genre that was published in late 1980s and early 1990s in United Kingdom, and one of many that was more or less abysmal. The players are described by only two parameters (skill and fitness), we have no tactics setting, we have no match report, we have no statistics, we have no fixtures list, transfer list or anything that you would expect in such game. The whole game is just very simple interface (that looks suspiciously like those on Spectrum in early 1980s), one set of players (suspiciously like on Spectrum), simple transfers (like on Spectrum) and absolutely nothing more (like on Spectrum). Oh, wait, there is a training feature: before each round you can choose how vigorously you players will train.
League Challenge would be below average product in 1981, but in 1991 when it was published it was a disaster.
